Boo-yeah. Take that, Orlando.
After a while you sorta’ get used to seeing hippy buses in Berkeley that are covered in murals and bikes. But this was in Oakland so…OK, actually still used to it. I live in a pretty special place.
Not sure how this started, but at the Mama Buzz cafe on Broadway, they frame up napkin doodles. They get some nice stuff, as you can from this sample. Such good stuff, I can hardly pick a favorite.
“End racist violence” mural in process on MLK Drive in Oakland. This is on the side of a commune in Pill Hill (between Macarthur and 40th). They have a big garden and a whole room full of free stuff.
Yep, that’s a car covered in gallopping, laughing, blue horses.
I love how the car says “Easy does it” and “keep it simple,” offering some advice the artist chose not to take.
It says “Baby Hiram” in reference to a one year old that was killed down the street from this location in West Oakland about a year ago. Toward the top of the picture it says “Know Justice, Know Peace.”
